Millions of Indians speak English daily…
but many common mistakes make them sound less fluent or less natural.
Today, I’ll show you the most frequent speaking mistakes and how to correct them easily.
2. PURPOSE
This vlog will help you:
- Identify your speaking mistakes
- Replace wrong sentences with correct ones
- Sound more natural and confident
3. SCOPE
We will cover:
- Grammar mistakes
- Sentence formation mistakes
- Vocabulary mistakes
- Pronunciation mistakes
- Overused Indian-English phrases
4. MISTAKE 1: USING “MYSELF” INCORRECTLY
❌ “Myself Rahul.”
✔️ “I am Rahul.”
“ Myself ” is never used for introductions.
5. MISTAKE 2: CONFUSING “WILL” AND “GOING TO”
❌ “I will go now.”
✔️ “I’m going now.”
Use “I will” only for decisions made at the moment.
6. MISTAKE 3: ADDING “ONLY” EVERYWHERE
❌ “I am joking only.”
✔️ “I am just joking.”
Use “just” instead of “only” for natural English.
7. MISTAKE 4: DIRECT TRANSLATIONS FROM MOTHER TONGUE
❌ “Open the light.”
✔️ “Turn on the light.”
❌ “Close the fan.”
✔️ “Turn off the fan.”
8. MISTAKE 5: OVERUSE OF “ACTUALLY”
Indians use “actually” in every sentence.
Use it only when adding real clarification.
9. MISTAKE 6: WRONG PREPOSITIONS
❌ “Discuss about this.”
✔️ “Discuss this.”
(‘Discuss’ already includes the meaning ‘about’)
❌ “I am waiting for you since long.”
✔️ “I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”
10. MISTAKE 7: WRONG PRONUNCIATION
❌ “Waater”
✔️ “Water” (Pronounce as ‘waw-ter’)
❌ “Com-port-able”
✔️ “Comfortable” (‘kumf-tuh-bul’)
11. MISTAKE 8: USING HEAVY WORDS UNNECESSARILY
Beginners try to sound advanced but end up sounding unnatural.
Simple English is better.
12. CONCLUSION
Speaking English naturally is easy when you avoid these common mistakes.
Replace wrong sentences with correct ones,
focus on clear pronunciation,
and use simple English — not complicated words.
Your fluency will improve instantly.
